Baskerville - Wednesday, October 8, 2003 - 01:25 pm

Somewhere outside the Schemers' Corner, there was a bamf and a series of thuds.

Suitov looked up and grinned. "Weft! Just in time. There's something here I'd like you to take a look at."

"Uh, give me a minute," said the upended monk, pulling his sword out of the turf and lifting a wing off himself.

Erin - Wednesday, October 8, 2003 - 01:39 pm

With a poof and a thud, Lance found himself outside and in a tangle. At least it served to distract him from the angst in his head, though.

Someone is groping my wing.

...kinkeh.

"I thought monks were like, vowed to celibacy or something," Lance mumbled. Woot, his brain was moving back into pervert mode. He had to be making a recovery of some sort.

Baskerville - Wednesday, October 8, 2003 - 02:59 pm

"I see you're feeling better," Weft muttered.

Erin - Thursday, October 9, 2003 - 02:07 am

"I'm not something to look at!" Katai whimpered, staring up at the mage with fear. "I just felt a little twitch of energy that felt like someone I kno--LANCE!"

GLOMP.

"Ow," Lance mumbled as the dengel attached himself to Lance's body. "Careful please, I have a sore wing."

"What...?" Katai blinked, and looked at the congealing blood. "Oh no," he murmured, touching the wound gently. "What happened?"

"Meditation just isn't for me," Lance smiled. "Leads to all sorts of unfortunate things. Chain reaction, know what I mean?"

"Idiot," Katai mumbled. "It's as bad as that time when Lucifer--"

"Nn!" Lance cut him off, gesturing to their spectators. Then he blinked, looking over Katai again.

"Wings aren't out?"

"I don't need my wings out to find you, Lance."

Baskerville - Thursday, October 9, 2003 - 11:26 am

"Are you coming or not, Weft? It's through those copper beeches." Suitov took in the others with a glance, but seemed to find them less interesting than whatever 'it' was.

Weft wondered who this Lucifer person was that kept coming up. She (he? sie?) sounded interesting.

"Yeah, yeah, lead on," he said with an eye-roll. 'It' was probably some nest of fairies or similar. He'd once been dragged across three muddy fields just to see a pair of basilisk hatchlings. Cute, admittedly. Damned mage and his pet projects...

Ree - Thursday, October 9, 2003 - 11:58 am

Jaina opened her eyes to find herself twisted in a crazy knot of limbs and surrounded by grass. -- The hell?!, she wondered silently. With onset of awareness came an intense ache throughout her body, centered on her spinal column and skull. @#$%&. I ported. Ported too damn much. Ugh.

She did her best to ignore the soreness as she straightened herself against the lawn. In the process, she discovered her hand clenched around a bottle of vodka. It was a wonder she hadn't shattered the glass; her knuckles were ivory against it. Huh? Thought I gave that to that one woman. Did I grab it when Lance -- maybe I still had it when -- oh, who the hell cares. Mine, need, have now. Hurray.

She drank to her portalling skills, then half-stumbled, half-crawled in the direction of voices.

Erin - Monday, October 13, 2003 - 01:52 am

"...is she okay?"

"She's drunk."

"...low alcohol tolerance?"

"Yeah. Well, compared to us."

"Your wing still hasn't stopped bleeding," Katai mumbled, hesitantly touching the wound again. "And what's with the vest...?"

"It's hers," Lance mumbled, nodding towards the crawling Jaina. "I think."

"Oh," Katai replied. He stood up and moved to a small patch of ground nearby, humming softly to himself. Lance knew better than to ask what he was doing.

And people say watching grass grow is boring. Lance supposed that might be the case if you didn't know Katai, but seeing a single blade of grass grow so wide and so long that he carefully pulled it out and brought it over to use like a bandage...?

"Thanks," Lance smiled as Katai wrapped the green sheet around his wing.

"Don't mention it," Katai said shyly. "We can give her her vest back now."

"Right," Lance nodded, standing up slowly and wobbling a little. "Er, don't suppose you'd let me lean on you for a bit?"

Katai smiled and hooked one of Lance's arms around his shoulders. They headed after Jaina slowly.

"I wonder what the other guy found that's so interesting," Lance murmured, mostly to himself.

Baskerville - Monday, October 13, 2003 - 02:07 am

"What is it?"

"I have no idea."

"What does it do?"

"I do not know."

"Well, is it dangerous?"

"Anything really interesting is."

Aha, I must be really interesting then, Weft thought with a twisted kind of pride. He looked back to find the others approaching. Suitov wasn't paying them much attention.

"I don't suppose one of you knows what this is?" the monk asked, eyeing Lance. The angel looked better, at least.

He'd humour the mage for a bit, but then he really needed to apologise to the poor guy. Knocking him unconscious, indirectly getting him stabbed, making him freak out... not a promising first meeting.

That was if the others would let him near enough. He supposed he wouldn't blame them if they didn't.

Ceria - Monday, October 13, 2003 - 06:35 am

A lone figure wended its way towards the group of people consisting of Jaina, Lance, and the others. The strange new person was fiddling with on of her belt pouches as she got closer to the group. Hearing voices as if for the first time, the fur-covered female looked up and blinked at the group. She stared for a moment before quietly asking a question. "Jaina?"

Ree - Monday, October 13, 2003 - 10:47 am

"Not drunk," Jaina gritted to the gathering host. "Well, okay. Some drunk. Had to do something. Sooo sore. So very, very sore."

She groggily glanced up the furry female. "Yeah, I'm Jaina. I dunno if I know you, but your sister looks kinda familiar," Jaina greeted both sides of the same being.

"Say, lady, do you have a bandaid? It's for my brain. It's torn and falling apart. Gotta keep it together. Hurts, splitting."

Ceria - Monday, October 13, 2003 - 01:13 pm

"I'm sorry Jaina, I don't carry bandaids. But you can be reasured that your brain isn't falling apart - there's really no room for it to do so in that thick skull of yours." She laughed and shook her head at Jaina. Reaching into a random belt pouch Lunzie (for she has returned!) pulled out a locket and held it up in front of Jaina. "And really, is that any way to greet your sister?"

Ree - Tuesday, October 14, 2003 - 05:14 am

Jaina squinted at the locket dangling against her nose. "Siste-- hey, that's Lunzie. Lu-Lulu?!" she choked, finally putting the locket and its holder together in her throbbing brain. "Lunzie? Oh Goddess. It's been so long! When did you get a clone? Perfect copy.

"And -- did you just make a joke on me? Not nice, no. So fucking sore. Did you bring the kids? I could use their energy right about now. Literally. I used all mine up and then some."

Ceria - Tuesday, October 14, 2003 - 03:58 pm

"Now why would I make a joke on you dear?" Lunzie asked in an overly sweet tone of voice. "Sorry, no kids with me today, they're. . . .a little too rambunctious for long trips. Clone? Nononono. Just me. . .and yes, it has been a long time."

Lunzie sighed and stared off into space for a moment before looking back at Jaina and gathering her thoughts. "Used more than your energy? Oh. . . .you tried to portal again didn't you? Silly Jaina, when will you learn don't drink and portal." Lunzie pulled Jaina into a standing position and held her upright. "Now then, if you really need it, why don't you use some of my energy, I can replenish it easier than you can." I just need to drain a little from other people. . . .as long as they don't need it, that is.

Baskerville - Wednesday, October 15, 2003 - 12:44 pm

"Hullo there, Miss Jade," Suitov called, rummaging around in a pocket and chucking a pair of buffered analgesic tablets, still in their packaging, over to Lunzie. His mind was still evidently elsewhere, though.

"I think our friend will need those in the morning. So I wonder what would happen if we throw some low-level energy at this."

Weft looked back at the thing. "I thought you just said it was dangerou-- WE?!"

Erin - Wednesday, October 15, 2003 - 01:06 pm

"They're way ahead of uuuus," Lance whined.

"They'll wait, I'm sure," Katai said. Lance eyed him suspiciously.

"Wait for what?"

"Oh. Uh. Nothing," Katai replied, sweating a little.

Wyldsong - Wednesday, October 15, 2003 - 02:29 pm

Serp was outside staring a bunny straight into the little brown buttons that were its eyes.

They stood there, locked in a stance that could mean only one thing.

Serp blinked.

The bunny hopped away merrily, leaving Serp to growl menacingly at the mossy rock it had been sitting on.

"Tch. Show-off. Just because you win a staring contest..." Serp grumbled and walked the other way.

Baskerville - Friday, October 31, 2003 - 04:59 pm

"Always so uptight, Threads. Even you must be curious about something!"

"Curiosity killed the cat, Suitov."

"Do you claim to be a cat?"

"Not really. You know, back home they don't know what cats are."

An ironic chuckle.

He frowned slightly. "What are you doing to that - that whatever-it-is?"

"Just looking."

"Good."

"For now."

"Yii! Don't - touch!"

"Why, do you know something?"

"I haven't looked." It would be weakness to do so. He wanted to. He looked away, stared at a random tree.

"Truly, nothing excites your curiosity?"

"Some things." Weft cast a sideways glance at the mage, who was obviously absorbed in the thingy.

"Such as?" Casually asked. Still no eye contact.

Such as, what it'd feel like to be you.
Shocked, Weft caught that thought before it could develop any further.

Erin - Saturday, November 1, 2003 - 06:13 am

"Uh oh," Katai murmured.

"What?" Lance asked irritably, walking a little more sure of himself now. "What's wrong?"

"Um," Katai said intelligently, "I think the gentlemen over there are...um. They're tweaking the energy somehow."

"...repeat that in a language I can understand, please."

"It's a portal back to the Mortal Coil, Lance. I opened it to come here. They're poking at it, and that's affecting the energy. Chances are they feel it too, though they probably don't know what's causing it. Man, it's already unstable, I don't know what'll happen if they start poking around more than they should."

"So tell THEM that."

"I will, if you'll hurry up."

Lance stuck his tongue out and crossed his eyes, because he felt mature. Katai poked him and scuttled closer to Suitov & co.

"Um," he offered timidly, "Please be gentle with my portal. If it gets pushed too far it might not take me back to my intended destination."

"Hey, wait a minute, when did you learn how to make transrealm portals?" Lance asked, stunned, though he was completely ignored.

Baskerville - Monday, November 3, 2003 - 05:44 pm

"Just - some things." Weft was spared having to make a more detailed answer by the others' approach.

"Oh, that's what it's meant to be?" Suitov asked cheerfully. "Never seen one like this. How does it work?"

Weft caught Lance's eye. His look was part er, sorry about earlier, by the way and part save me!

Ree - Tuesday, November 4, 2003 - 02:05 pm

"Oh -- 'kay, I guess," she mumbled at Lunzie. "An' I wuzn't drinkin' an' port'in'. Wuzn't. Drank later ta feel better after portal, not b'fore. Swear."

Suitov's analgesics arced through the air and landed neatly in Jaina's outstretched hand. "Thankoo, sir." After a moment completely void of sensible thought, she popped both tablets into her mouth, chucked their packing into her back jeans pocket, and gulped the vodka at hand. "There. No more alky-hawl for me now, but it's what I had at hand."

She exhaled noisily and glanced at Lunzie, who was now, thankfully, only one of herself. "Hey you. We should talk. Um, I wanna check on somebody first, though. There's this fellow -- some utter ass attacked him inside the tavern. I tried to magic us both out to safety, but my stupid portal exploded and plopped us clear out here. I was aiming," she added sorely, "for the barroom. Dammit."

Dusting herself, she moved to better join the fellows. "One of his friends showed, but I still want to check on him before I go anywhere. Y'know. Make sure he's really okay. He was a little freaked out earlier. Just a bit. You coming? Don't know if I've mentioned him before or not, but you can meet him."
